What we collect, what we deliberately do not, and why.

No analytics provider is connected. This site currently sets no cookies and sends no data to any third party.
What we never collect
Your search queries. This is a deliberate design constraint, not a promise we are asking you to take on trust. The analytics layer in this codebase physically cannot receive search text: a lookup event carries only a category — “this looked like a part number” — and a failed search carries only a reason code.
Part numbers and serial numbers identify your machine, and by extension you. They do not need to leave your browser, so they do not.
What we would collect if analytics were enabled
If a privacy-conscious analytics provider is connected in future, it would record aggregate page views and a small set of interaction events: that a lookup happened and what kind, that a fitment check happened and what the outcome category was, and that an outbound link was followed and to which retailer.
None of those events carry free text, an identifier for you, or a cross-site profile.
Outbound links
When you follow a link to a retailer you leave this site, and that retailer’s own privacy practices apply. If the link is an affiliate link, the retailer may record that you arrived from here in order to attribute a commission.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs, which typically include IP addresses, for operational and security purposes. We do not use them for analytics or profiling.
