Parts by type
Every category below lists what actually decides whether a part fits. If you already have a number off the old part, searching it is faster.

Mower blades
The cutting blade under the deck. Blades are chosen by length, center-hole shape, and whether the deck mulches, bags, or side-discharges — a blade that bolts on is not necessarily the right blade for how your deck moves air.
- Blade length
- Measured tip to tip. This is usually a little less than the mower’s advertised cutting width, so do not assume a 22 in. mower takes a 22 in. blade — measure the old one.
- Center hole shape
- Round, star, H-pattern, or bowtie. The center hole has to match the spindle exactly; an adapter is not a substitute.
- Blade style
- Standard/straight-edge, high-lift, mulching, or gator style. This changes how the deck moves clippings, not just how it cuts.

Engine maintenance kits
A bundle of the service items an engine needs in one season — typically oil, an air filter, and a spark plug. Kits are matched to the engine, not to the mower, so two mowers with the same model number can take different kits.
- Engine family
- The kit is chosen from the engine’s own model and type numbers, which are stamped on the engine — not from the mower’s model number.
- Serial range
- When a mower model spans several production runs, the engine can change mid-run. Check your serial number against the range the kit is listed for.

Air filters
The engine’s intake filter. Chosen from the engine’s model and type numbers rather than the mower model.
- Engine family
- Read the engine’s model, type, and code numbers off the engine itself.

Spark plugs
Chosen by thread size, reach, heat range, and gap. The gap in particular is specified by the engine manufacturer and often needs setting before installation.
- Electrode gap
- Set to the engine manufacturer’s figure with a gap tool. Plugs are not always gapped correctly out of the box.
- Thread size and reach
- A plug with the wrong reach can bottom out or leave the electrode in the wrong place in the chamber.

Drive belts
Transmission and deck belts. Chosen by length, width, and profile — a belt that is a quarter inch off will either not tension or will throw.
- Belt length
- Outside circumference. Measure the old belt rather than trusting a listing.
- Belt width
- Top width of the belt where it rides in the pulley.

Handles and controls
Handle assemblies, bail levers, cables, and traction controls.
- Serial range
- Handle hardware is one of the parts that most often changes between production runs of the same model number.

Wheels and drive gears
Road wheels and the drive gears inside them. On a self-propelled mower the driven wheels are not plain castors — they carry the gear the transmission turns — so a wheel that bolts on is not necessarily a wheel that drives.
- Wheel diameter
- Measure the old wheel across the tyre. Front and rear are often different sizes on the same machine, and "high wheel" models differ from standard ones at the rear only.
- Driven or idle
- A driven wheel contains or engages a gear. Fitting an idle wheel in a driven position leaves you pushing the mower.
- Serial range
- Wheels and drive gears are among the parts manufacturers change mid-production without changing the model number.

Covers and storage
Protective covers, sized by the machine’s cutting width rather than by an exact model match.
- Cutting width
- Covers are sold to fit a range of deck widths, so an exact model match is not required.

Fuel treatment
Stabilizers and treatments used to keep fuel usable through storage. Not model-specific.
