Specifications

What it does
Hand control of speed on a Personal Pace mowerToro’s product page describes it as a fixed assist handle: you squeeze the traction bar to set the mower’s speed instead of the mower matching your walking pace, which Toro suggests helps on tight corners and on hills. That description is on the product page only — the parts listings carry the name and nothing else.
Toro’s other name for it
TRACTION ASSIST HANDLE KITThe parts listings call this number Traction Assist Handle. Its own product page heading calls it a kit. That matters because this site has drawn a distinction between the earlier 108-8120, named a kit, and this one, named a handle — a distinction Toro’s own product page does not make.
Listed for
Toro 20340 in all five of its serial ranges, and the Toro 20334 from 316000001

TRACTION ASSIST HANDLE KIT (Part # 131-4590)

The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 21, 2026

Toro’s product page for the handle, served directly at this number with no redirect and carrying no supersession line in either direction. Two things it publishes that the parts listings do not. Its heading reads TRACTION ASSIST HANDLE KIT, where the listings call the same number Traction Assist Handle — so Toro calls it a kit on one surface and a handle on the other. And it describes the function: a fixed assist handle that lets the operator control a Personal Pace mower’s speed by squeezing the traction bar rather than by walking pace, which Toro suggests helps on tight corners and hills. It states no component count.

The later range. Still lists 130-8148 and 131-4590, so the maintenance kit does not change again here. It lists 137-4833P (8 Inch Front Wheel) and does not list 59502 — a second, separate boundary within the same model number.
