Toro lists 131-4590, the Traction Assist Handle, for the 20340 in all five of its serial ranges — every listing Toro publishes for the model. It is the same part either side of the boundary where the engine maintenance kit changes from 20234 to 130-8148.
That combination — one part moving, another staying — is the reason this site records fitment per part per range rather than per machine. Knowing that your 20340 falls in the later range tells you which kit to buy and tells you nothing new about the handle.
Worth knowing if you are looking across models: this is not the only traction-assist number Toro uses on its Recyclers. The 20334 lists 108-8120 for its first eight runs and this same number for its last six. Toro’s listings call the first a kit and the second a handle, but 131-4590’s own product page is headed TRACTION ASSIST HANDLE KIT, so that distinction belongs to the listings rather than to Toro. What its product page does add is what the part is for: a fixed assist handle that sets a Personal Pace mower’s speed by squeezing the traction bar instead of by walking pace. The all-wheel-drive 21472 lists a third number, 144-6377, in all seven of its runs. Neither that number's product page nor any listing gives a contents list for any of the kits, and none states that any of the three substitutes for another, so order the number listed for your own machine and serial range.
