Choosing mower blades for this mower
The 20340 is one of the easier Toro mowers to buy a blade for, because the blade did not change between the two production runs Toro publishes parts for. Both the 316-series and the 400-series serial ranges list the same number, 59534P. That is worth knowing, because on this same machine the engine maintenance kit did change between those ranges — so people who have learned to check their serial number for one part reasonably assume they need to for every part.
The thing to be careful about here is not which number to order, but what the number means. Toro describes 59534P as a Recycler straight-edge, standard-discharge blade. "Recycler" is not a coating or a grade of steel; it describes how the blade and the deck work together to cut clippings small enough to drop back into the lawn. If you almost always bag, a higher-lift blade will move more air into the bag — but it is a different blade style than the one Toro lists for this deck, and it will change how the mower behaves when you are not bagging.
Two figures we deliberately do not publish: the blade's tip-to-tip length and its center-hole shape. Toro does not state either on the pages we verified. It publishes the deck as 22 in. and calls the part a 22 Inch Recycler Blade, and it does not say what that figure measures — so we are not going to tell you the two differ, only that neither is a blade length we can cite. Measure the blade you are taking off before you order the one going on.

Its customer-facing title is 22 Inch Recycler Blade and the overview describes a Recycler straight-edge standard-discharge blade. **Re-read 31 August 2026 after the 20120P discrepancy, and it carries two things the 16 August record did not.** Its internal designation reads TORO ATOMIC BLADE - 22IN, PACKAGED — so Toro names this same number Recycler on the front of the page and Atomic in the designation, with PACKAGED alongside. And a bullet states “This blade is sold individually”, which is a quantity Toro publishes here and does not publish for either TimeMaster blade kit. Still no tip-to-tip length, no centre-hole shape and no thickness; it names no machine and says to verify make and serial number.
