In detail
Choosing mower blades for this mower
The 21200 and the 21199 are both 30 in. TimeMasters on the same 223 cc Briggs & Stratton, and Toro splits both into ranges at nearly the same serial numbers. It is very easy to treat them as one machine. On the blade, they are not.
Over the three 21200 listings we opened — 400000000–402081999, 407800000–410174254 and 414514169–999999999 — Toro lists 20122P, the 15.4 Inch Hi-Lift Replacement Blade Kit, every time. The middle one matters most: over the comparable 407700000–410243166 range on the 21199, Toro lists 20120P, the Atomic blade, and not 20122P.
So on one of these two machines the blade changes partway through and then changes back, and on the other it does not change at all. Same deck size, same engine, same era, same manufacturer.
We are not going to explain why. Toro's pages show which blade is listed against which model and range, and say nothing about the reason or about whether one blade would work in place of the other. What they establish is narrower and more useful: the model number on your machine has to be right before the serial number means anything.
