Engine maintenance kits for the Toro 21200

Short answer

Toro lists kit 130-8149 for serial range 400000000–402081999. Neither of the two later ranges we opened lists an engine maintenance kit at all.

What decides it

The numbers that matter here

Your serial range

400000000–402081999 takes 130-8149; the later ranges list no kit

This is the decision, and for the later ranges the honest answer is that we do not know.

Absence is not a "no"

We record the later ranges as unknown

Toro not listing a kit is not Toro saying no kit fits. Treating it as one would be inventing an answer about engine servicing.

Engine

Briggs & Stratton 223 cc OHV, per Toro’s product page

A different engine from the 163 cc EXi machines on this site, and none of their kits appears on any 21200 listing we opened.

In detail

Choosing engine maintenance kits for this mower

The kit appears on the earliest listing we opened, named BRIGGS MAINT KIT - TM 17 & NEWER, and then it is simply not there on the later ones. We checked the full accessory list on both later ranges — 407800000–410174254 and 414514169–999999999 — and found oil, fuel treatment, a blade and a cover, and no kit of any kind. The 21199, the other 30 in. TimeMaster on this site, shows the same shape: a kit early, none in the later ranges we opened.

We record that as unknown rather than as "no kit fits your machine". The distinction is the whole point. A part missing from an accessory listing is not Toro saying nothing fits; it is Toro not saying. It could mean the kit was discontinued, or that it moved to a page we have not opened, or something else. Guessing here would mean guessing about what someone puts in their engine.

If your serial number falls in one of the later ranges, a Toro dealer is the right place to ask.

Worth noting alongside this: the blade on this machine does not change across any range we opened, while the kit disappears. Two parts on one mower, two different behaviours — which is why we record fitment per part per range rather than per machine.

The mistake we see most

Reading "no kit listed" as "no kit needed", or buying the kit shown for the earliest range because it is the only one a search turns up.

Method

How we established this

We opened three of Toro’s eleven published parts listings for model 21200 and recorded which maintenance kit, if any, appears in each. Where no kit appears we record a fitment as unknown against that range rather than omitting a row, so the gap stays visible on the page.
