Discharge chutes

147-8696→—at 411764000

ASM-CHUTE, SD 147-8696 is among this range’s accessories and is not among those of the next listing, 411764000–412799999.

The two listings are consecutive. And 147-8696 comes back in the last of the seven runs, so this is not the part being retired — it leaves the list and returns.

In detail

This production run

Toro lists two discharge chutes for a 21472 in this range: Chute Assembly 139-6556 and ASM-CHUTE, SD 147-8696. This is the third consecutive run for which both are named, and the last.

From 411764000 onwards, 147-8696 is not on the listing. Only 139-6556 is, and that holds for the three runs that follow.

Then in the seventh and final listing, 418272600 and above, it reverses: 147-8696 is named again and 139-6556 is not.

That pattern is the reason this page exists. Anyone comparing only the first and last of the seven listings — the obvious thing to do, and what this site itself did before reading the middle — would see 139-6556 at one end and 147-8696 at the other and read it as a replacement. Toro does call it one — requesting either chute as a product serves one page, for 147-8696, carrying the line “Replaces Product 139-6556” — and the listings still do not show the shape that word suggests. 147-8696 is named in the earliest three runs, absent from the next three, and named again in the last. A replacement that was already there at the start, left, and came back is worth knowing about before you order either number.

We have read all seven listings Toro publishes for this model number, which is the only reason that is visible.

Serial numbers near a boundary

The top of this range is a consecutive edge, so it is a real one. A serial in the last few thousand sits on the side where Toro still lists both chutes; one digit higher and only 139-6556 is listed.

Method

How we established this

We opened all seven of Toro’s parts listings for model 21472 — the count comes from the serial-range selector the listings carry — and compared the accessories they name within the part categories this site records. The pages also carry accessories this site holds no record for, so this is a comparison within the categories it records rather than an exhaustive diff of what they list. A part absent from a listing is recorded as unknown rather than incompatible.

The common mistake: Comparing the earliest and latest listings and stopping there. Toro does state a replacement for these two numbers, on their product pages rather than in the listings — and the middle listings show a pattern that the word on its own would not lead you to expect.

ASM-CHUTE, SD (Part # 147-8696) — reached from /product/139-6556
The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 31, 2026
Requesting the 139-6556 product URL answers 200 with no redirect and serves a page titled ASM-CHUTE, SD under part number 147-8696, carrying the line “Replaces Product 139-6556.” It describes neither chute — no discharge type, no machine application. This is Toro stating the supersession between the two numbers directly, which seven pages on this site said it did not state. **Re-read 31 August 2026 and unchanged in every particular**, including the supersession line, the absence of any description and the serial field reading None-None.

ASM-CHUTE, SD (Part # 147-8696)
The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 31, 2026
Toro’s product page for the SD chute, served directly at this number with no redirect. It carries the same line, “Replaces Product 139-6556.” It gives no discharge type and names no machine, so what the chute is and what it fits are still not published anywhere we have found — only the relationship between the two numbers is.
