Toro 21472 partsSerial 411764000–412799999

First of three 21472 runs naming 139-6556 and no other chute. Across the seven listings, 147-8696 is on the three below and again on the last.

Discharge chutes

147-8696→—at 411764000

This range’s accessory list names 139-6556 and not 147-8696. The listing directly below, which is consecutive with it, names both.

It is where 147-8696 leaves the list, and it does not leave for good — the final run names it again. A part number that returns is not something a retailer listing will tell you about.

In detail

This production run

If your 21472’s serial number falls in this run, Toro lists one discharge chute for it: Chute Assembly, 139-6556.

The listing directly below this one is consecutive with it and names two — 139-6556 and ASM-CHUTE, SD 147-8696. So this serial is where the SD chute stops being listed, and the edge is exact rather than bracketed.

What makes this worth a page rather than a sentence is what happens afterwards. 147-8696 is absent from this run and the two above it, and is named again in the seventh and last, 418272600 and above, where 139-6556 in turn is not. Across the seven runs each chute is named in some and absent from others. Toro does state the relationship: requesting either chute as a product serves one page, for 147-8696, carrying the line “Replaces Product 139-6556.” What it does not do is explain why the number it calls a replacement was listed for the three earliest runs and then dropped for three more.

None of this says a chute stopped fitting. Toro removing a number from an accessory list tells you what it offers for that run and nothing about what bolts onto the deck, which is why this site files 147-8696 as unknown here instead of incompatible.

Absence from a parts listing is not a statement that a part does not fit. It is the manufacturer not saying.

If you are close to the edge

Serial numbers near a boundary

The lower edge of this range is sharp and the listing below it is consecutive. A serial just under 411764000 falls in a run where Toro lists both chutes, so it is worth reading the plate twice before deciding which one to order.

Method

How we established this

We opened all seven of Toro’s parts listings for model 21472, a count taken from the serial-range selector the listings themselves carry, and compared the accessories named on them within the part categories this site records. The pages also carry accessories this site holds no record for, so this is a comparison within the categories it records rather than an exhaustive diff of what they list. Parts absent from a listing are recorded as unknown rather than incompatible, because absence from a parts page is not a statement that a part does not fit.

The common mistake: Assuming a part number that stops appearing in a listing has been superseded, and assuming the reverse. Toro does publish a supersession for these two, on their product pages — and this number still disappears for three runs and comes back, which the listings show and the product page does not mention.

ASM-CHUTE, SD (Part # 147-8696) — reached from /product/139-6556
The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 31, 2026
Requesting the 139-6556 product URL answers 200 with no redirect and serves a page titled ASM-CHUTE, SD under part number 147-8696, carrying the line “Replaces Product 139-6556.” It describes neither chute — no discharge type, no machine application. This is Toro stating the supersession between the two numbers directly, which seven pages on this site said it did not state. **Re-read 31 August 2026 and unchanged in every particular**, including the supersession line, the absence of any description and the serial field reading None-None.

ASM-CHUTE, SD (Part # 147-8696)
The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 31, 2026
Toro’s product page for the SD chute, served directly at this number with no redirect. It carries the same line, “Replaces Product 139-6556.” It gives no discharge type and names no machine, so what the chute is and what it fits are still not published anywhere we have found — only the relationship between the two numbers is.
