Toro lists 38990 for the 20339 in both ranges we opened, 316000001–316999999 and 400000000–401999999. The belt does not change with the serial number here. What does change is which mower you are looking at. The Toro 20334 is also a 22 in. Toro walk-behind with a Briggs & Stratton EXi of 163 cc and a 14-gauge steel deck — and it takes 38991, one digit away.
The two machines are not identical — Toro's product pages give them different drive types, different start types and different wheel configurations — but they share the things a shopper is most likely to compare: the 22 in. cutting width, the Briggs & Stratton EXi 163 cc engine, and the 14-gauge steel deck. Toro's name for 38991 carries the distinction that matters, "22 inch Drive Belt for RWD Toro WPM", while 38990 is simply "22 Inch Drive Belt for Recycler Mower". Read past the description to the number.
