Unlike every other machine on this site that lists it, the 20339 is never moved to 138-6053. If you are comparing against another Toro’s page and expecting the newer number, the difference is real and not an oversight in this record.

In detail
Choosing engine oil for this mower
The 20339 is the machine where the number Toro calls obsolete never gets replaced.
Of the nine listings Toro publishes for this model, the three oldest — 314000001 through 316999999 — name no engine oil at all. That matches the 20334, which also stops naming oil below 400000000, and it means an owner of an early 20339 who finds no oil number on Toro’s page has found what is there rather than missed something.
The six newest listings all name the same three numbers and never vary: 38903 is SAE 30 in a 32 oz bottle, 38916 the same grade in 18 oz, and 117-0066 is the full synthetic 10W-30. There is no serial anywhere on this machine at which any of the three changes.
That is the finding. On every other machine in this site that names 117-0066, Toro eventually replaces it with 138-6053 — at 405700000, 406577037, 407000000 or 410243167 depending on the model. On the 20339 it does not. The newest listing runs from 407820000 with no upper serial, which means it covers current machines, and it still names 117-0066: the number Toro prints *OBS* against on that very listing. 138-6053 appears on none of the nine listings we opened for this model. That is a statement about what Toro publishes here, not about what a parts counter will hand you — asking for a superseded number generally gets you its replacement.
Toro publishes no sump capacity on any of these listings, so how much oil the engine takes remains an engine-manual question.

Requesting the 117-0066 product URL serves the page for 138-6053 under the line “Replaces Product 117-0066”, which is Toro stating the oil supersession directly rather than this site inferring it from which number sits against which serial range. Re-read 31 August 2026 and unchanged, and again 5 September 2026. Internal designation OIL-30/10W-30 SYNTHETIC CK4 [QT]. One bullet frames the oil for zero-turn riding mowers (TimeCutter MX, Titan, Titan MX) while the overview calls it the choice for any outdoor power equipment; the page names no walk-behind model. It does state a capacity — the title reads “(32 oz.)” and the first bullet repeats “10W-30 engine oil (32 oz.)” — corrected 5 September 2026 from an earlier reading that missed it.
