Toro lists both grades side by side and says nothing about choosing between them. SAE 30 is a mono-grade for warm running and 10W-30 is a multi-grade; which one suits your climate is an engine-manual question, not a parts-listing one.

Choosing engine oil for this mower
The useful thing about engine oil on this machine is where Toro stops listing it.
The 20334 has fourteen published parts listings. The nine oldest — everything from 290000001 up to 316999999 — name no engine oil whatsoever. That is not a statement that those machines run dry; it is a statement about what Toro puts on a parts page, and this site records it as unknown rather than as an absence of any kind. An owner of an early 20334 will not find an oil number on Toro’s page for their serial, and should read the engine manual instead.
From 400000000 the listings carry three numbers at once, and they are not alternatives to each other in the way a blade choice is. 38903 is SAE 30 in a 32 oz bottle and 38916 is the same grade in 18 oz, so those two differ only in how much you are buying. The third is a full synthetic 10W-30, and that is the one that changes: 117-0066 on the earlier runs, 138-6053 from 406577037. Toro states that the newer number replaces the older on its product page, and the change has its own page under this machine’s serial ranges.
One listing in the middle, 402000000–404319999, names none of the three. It also drops a fuel treatment and a bag at the same time, which is the signature of a thin listing rather than a mower that stopped taking oil for one production run. Nothing on this page treats it as a change.
What Toro does not publish anywhere in this family is a sump capacity. The number of bottles you need is in the engine manual, not on a parts listing, and we do not guess it.

Requesting the 117-0066 product URL serves the page for 138-6053 under the line “Replaces Product 117-0066”, which is Toro stating the oil supersession directly rather than this site inferring it from which number sits against which serial range. Re-read 31 August 2026 and unchanged, and again 5 September 2026. Internal designation OIL-30/10W-30 SYNTHETIC CK4 [QT]. One bullet frames the oil for zero-turn riding mowers (TimeCutter MX, Titan, Titan MX) while the overview calls it the choice for any outdoor power equipment; the page names no walk-behind model. It does state a capacity — the title reads “(32 oz.)” and the first bullet repeats “10W-30 engine oil (32 oz.)” — corrected 5 September 2026 from an earlier reading that missed it.

This page is now also the source for part 138-6053 itself: batch 13 created the pt_engine_oil category, so the clause that used to sit here — that engine oil is in no category this site records — stopped being true the moment that batch was staged.
