Toro 20334
Drive belts for the Toro 20334
Short answer
Belt 38991 from 315000001 up, and no belt listed at all below it. Two traps here: the serial number, and the mower standing next to yours.

What we have verified
What decides it
The numbers that matter here
- Your model number, not your serial
20334 takes 38991; the 20339 takes 38990
The belt does not change across the seven runs that list one, and no run below 315000001 lists a belt at all. The front-wheel-drive 20339, which shares deck width and engine size, takes a different number.
- Drive type
Rear-wheel drive, and Toro’s name for the belt says RWD
Deck width, engine size and deck material are the same on both mowers, so the drive designation in the belt name is what separates the two listings.
- Belt dimensions
Not found on the Toro pages we opened
No figure to check a candidate against, so the number is the whole check.
In detail
Choosing drive belts for this mower
Toro lists 38991, named "22 inch Drive Belt for RWD Toro WPM", for the 20334 in seven of its fourteen runs — every one from 315000001 up. It does not change across those seven.
Below that serial it lists no drive belt for this machine at all. That is not the same as the belt being different there, and it is not a gap in our reading: all fourteen listings are open. Toro simply publishes no belt for the seven earliest runs, so if your serial starts 290 through 314 there is no number here to give you.
What does change the answer is which machine you are actually looking at. The 20339 is also a 22 in. Toro walk-behind, also on a Briggs & Stratton EXi of 163 cc, also with a 14-gauge steel deck — and Toro lists belt 38990 for it. One digit apart. Toro's name for 38991 carries the distinction: RWD, rear-wheel drive. The 20339 drives its front wheels.
The two machines are not identical — Toro's product pages differ on start type, wheel configuration and drive system — but they share the figures a shopper is most likely to compare: 22 in. cutting width, a Briggs & Stratton EXi of 163 cc, a 14-gauge steel deck. Read past those to the part number.
Neither belt’s own product page publishes a length or a width, and those are the pages where a dimension would be — so there is nothing to measure a candidate against. That leaves the model number and the serial doing all the work.

The mistake we see most
Method
How we established this
We opened all fourteen of Toro’s parts listings for model 20334 and recorded the belt named on each, then compared them against all nine listings for the 20339. We also opened both belts’ product pages: neither publishes a length or a width, and neither carries a supersession line. Both product pages were read to confirm each machine’s drive type in Toro’s wording.

The answer is not the same on every machine, which is the point of checking rather than assuming.
