Toro 21472

Fuel treatment for the Toro 21472

Short answer

Both sizes on every listing, so your serial decides nothing here. The packet also comes inside the maintenance kit sold beside it.

What we have verified

What decides it

The numbers that matter here

Serial range

Decides nothing for fuel treatment on this machine

Both numbers are on every listing and neither moves. The one part that does change on a 21472 is the discharge chute, which has nothing to do with this purchase.

If you are also buying the maintenance kit

It already contains a packet of 130-2393

The listing publishes no contents for 130-8148. The page Toro serves when you request that number — kit 20298 — itemizes a fuel-treatment packet among them.

Which size

A 0.5 oz packet or a 12 oz bottle, both listed on every run

Toro publishes no dosage on the listing and points at the product label instead, so how far the bottle goes is not something these pages answer.

131-3823 is not a treatment

It is ready-mixed fuel, listed alongside on every run

It has never appeared anywhere on this site without 131-6572 beside it, which is what makes it look like a companion size rather than a different product.

In detail

Choosing fuel treatment for this mower

Toro lists the same two fuel treatments on every run of the 21472: 130-2393, the 0.5 oz packet, and 131-6572, the 12 oz bottle. Neither enters or leaves at any serial. On this machine that is no surprise — twelve numbers appear on all seven listings and the only thing that ever moves is the discharge chute. **A serial lookup for fuel treatment on a 21472 has nothing to tell you.**

So the useful thing is one card away on the same page. Every one of these listings also sells engine maintenance kit 130-8148, and **the packet is inside it.**

Toro does not say so on the listing. The kit's card there describes what the kit is for and names nothing it holds. Ask for 130-8148 as a product instead and Toro serves a different page — kit 20298, under the line “Replaces Product 130-8148” — and *that* page itemizes: an 18 oz bottle of 4-cycle engine oil, a spark plug, an air filter, and a packet of 130-2393.

**So order the kit and the packet together and you will have two packets.** That may be exactly what you want; a kit is a service and a packet is a top-up. It is simply not something the listing tells you, because the listing publishes no contents for that kit at all.

Two cautions, both of them Toro's rather than ours. A kit's contents can change without its number changing, so what arrives may differ from what 20298's page says today. And that page gives the packet as “.05 oz.” where the packet's own name gives 0.5 oz — a tenfold difference in Toro's own printing, which this site records and does not try to resolve.

131-3823 sits beside the treatments on all seven runs and is not one of them. It is All Season 4-Cycle Fuel: fuel itself rather than something added to fuel. On this machine, as on every other one here, it has never been listed without 131-6572 next to it, which is the whole reason it reads as a larger bottle of the same thing.

The mistake we see most

Adding the packet to an order that already includes the maintenance kit, on the assumption that a kit with no published contents holds none. The page Toro serves for that kit number lists a 130-2393 packet among its contents.

Method

How we established this

We opened all seven listings Toro publishes for model 21472 and recorded which fuel treatments each names. The newest was re-opened on 31 August 2026 and carries both treatments, the maintenance kit and the ready-mixed fuel together. That the kit contains a packet is on no listing at all: it comes from requesting 130-8148's own product URL, which serves kit 20298 and itemizes the contents there.

Briggs & Stratton EXi Engine Maintenance Kit (Part # 20298) — reached from /product/130-8148

The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 31, 2026

Requesting the 130-8148 product URL serves the product page for 20298 and carries the line “Replaces Product 130-8148”. That page itemizes the kit: an 18 oz. bottle of 4-cycle engine oil (38916), one spark plug (130-8167), one air filter (130-8165) and a .05 oz. packet of fuel treatment (130-2393). The itemization is published for 20298, not for 130-8148. **Re-read 31 August 2026, and it publishes one thing this record had not captured: a condition.** The page states the kit is designed for Toro lawn mowers with a Briggs & Stratton EXi 163cc engine and a serial number of 400000000 or greater. That is a fitment stated on a product page rather than on a parts listing, which is rare here, and it was cited by a category note before this record held it.

All Season 4-Cycle Fuel for Lawn Mowers and Snow Blowers 32 oz (Part # 131-3823)

The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 31, 2026

The number requested, no redirect and no “Replaces Product” line. Internal designation 4-CYCLE FUEL, SNOW AND LAWN, 32OZ CAN. Toro describes it as “ethanol-free fuel formulated specifically for outdoor power equipment engines” with “no mixing required — pours straight in”. That settles what it is: fuel itself, not something added to fuel, which is why it is not filed beside the Premium Fuel Treatments in pt_fuel_additives. Recorded as a source with no part and no fitments while the category question is with the owner — the evidence is kept even though the record is not made.

  10. 10

Premium Fuel Treatment (12 oz.) (Part # 131-6572)

The Toro Company · Primary source · Accessed August 31, 2026

Toro’s own page for the number requested, with no redirect and no “Replaces Product” line in either direction. It describes what the treatment is for — protecting small 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines from ethanol-blended fuels — and names no machine, model or engine, so it establishes what the part is and nothing about what it fits. Every fitment for this number rests on the parts listings instead. **Re-read 31 August 2026 and unchanged.** Internal designation TORO PREMIUM FUEL TREATMENT 12 OZ BTL. It publishes no ratio: a bullet says to refer to the product label for the correct dosage for your fuel tank size, which is a pointer rather than a quantity.
